Annual Giving: The Griffin Fund

You can make a difference with your gift to the Griffin Fund.
As a 501c3 non-profit corporation, each year Westminster School seeks donations to help meet its operating budget and provide students and staff with the extras that make learning and teaching effective and memorable.
The Griffin Fund comprises all donations to Westminster School.  This fund is a vital component of the school’s income and continued success as an independent school.  While tuition pays for the basic program and operation of Westminster, The Griffin Fund helps lift school offerings above “basic,” and directly benefits the students in a number of important ways:

• To enhance technology, learning materials, curriculum expansions, and field trips/activities that support our teachers’ efforts and our students’ experience inside and outside the classroom;
• To further develop capital projects.
• To help fund scholarships for outstanding students from the surrounding community who would not otherwise receive the life-changing gift of a classical education.

Gryphon Field

Westminster School plans to install a state-of-the-art, turf athletic field. The project also includes a new playground with outdoor basketball court and dedicated pre-school area. A leadership team of donors have come forward to generously fund the start of our capital campaign. Now it is time for all members of the Westminster community, present and past, to bring this long-held dream to fruition and help ensure the continuing growth of Westminster School. Annual Giving

It is also the most direct way to support increases to staff salaries and benefits, a crucial aspect of hiring and retaining high-quality teachers.

Gryphon Legacy Fund

Westminster School’s Board of Trustees established the Gryphon Legacy Fund to help ensure the future growth and success of the school. This fund is designed to provide project-based support, beyond the annual budget, for the programs and spaces that are so critical to the fabric of a Westminster School education. Projects supported by this fund will be identified by the Head of School and approved by the Board of Trustees. Donations to this fund may be made in recognition of those who have retired from Westminster School, alumni, graduate classes, as well as current staff and students.

Gift Matching

Many companies offer matching gift programs that can significantly increase the impact of your contribution to Westminster School—at no additional cost to you. In fact, some companies also match gifts made by retirees and spouses.

If your employer or your spouse’s employer participates in a matching gift program, your donation could go twice—or even three times—as far in supporting our students, faculty, and programs. Most companies match gifts dollar for dollar, while others offer even more generous matches.

Giving Day

We are excited to launch a new tradition: Westminster Giving Day. On April 23, we ask our entire community—current families and staff, alumni and their parents, and friends of the school—to donate to Westminster School. There is no other school like Westminster, so let’s give generously in support of this wonderful school which provides such an extraordinary education for its students!

We chose April 23 as our special day because it’s also Shakespeare’s Birthday. What better way to champion Westminster’s love of the classics than to ally with the Bard himself?

We hope that every Westminster graduate for many decades past remembers Shakespeare’s birthday fondly—memorizing sonnets and speeches to deliver in the courtyard while toasting the great man—and, of course, taking that amazing ride that is the 7th -grade Shakespeare play. These traditions are still happening at Westminster School, along with many other experiences that enrich the lives of our students.
